Bar Joist Clips for Bar Joist Metal Roof Insulation
One method of adding roof insulation to a bar joist building is to use clips. An "L" shaped bar joist support clip is placed through the center of the joist. Then 1" steel banding is fed through the slot at the bottom of each clip. Insulation rolls are then positioned within the purlin space and supported by the banding.

Another method of installing insulation to steel bar joists is to apply stick pins that are adhered to the metal roof decking with an adhesive 1" apart. The adhesive takes about 24hrs to dry before the insulation blankets can be hung. The fiberglass blankets are pushed tight against the roof deck while the stick pin penetrates the fiberglass. Friction washers are applied to hold the insulation onto the pins.

Fiberglass blankets can also be held up in between bar joists with steel banding. Banding is screwed to the bottom of the bar joists with a special heavy duty screw. The blakets are then placed to lay over the top of the banding.
